About me

I’m Mirko Costa, the hands behind MRK Guitars.

I started by studying with Giulio Negrini, who taught me the basics of modern guitar building. Thanks to that experience, I was accepted into the Milano School of Lutherie, where I studied techniques, theory and history for four years.

MRK grew slowly, one step at a time during these last twelve years, blending modern guitar building with everything I learned from traditional luthiery.

Over the years, I understood something very simple:
there are many great luthiers out there, but very few who build instruments that are truly, completely custom.
Redesigning the whole instrument when needed: body shape, scale length, neck geometry, bevels, ergonomics;

This way of working always felt natural, and it slowly became the core of MRK.

Today my goal is clear:
to build a guitar that fits you better than anything you can buy off the shelf.
You don’t have to know everything on your own. We work together: you tell me your ideas and needs, and I help translate them into technical choices.

One of my favourite moments is when someone says, “I didn’t know this was even possible.”
That’s exactly why I build guitars: to explore what an instrument can become when it’s made for a real person, not for a standard.
